Polish PM Tusk Warns of Major Security Implications for Europe with Trump’s US Election Victory

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has expressed concerns over the impact of Donald Trump’s recent victory in the U.S. presidential election, emphasizing that it could bring significant changes to European security.

“The outcome of the U.S. elections will have serious consequences for European policy, particularly regarding security,” Tusk stated in a press briefing before departing for a European leaders' summit in Budapest.

Highlighting Poland's "clearly defined interests," Tusk noted the importance of reinforcing transatlantic ties. He also acknowledged his prior relationship with Trump, whom he described as a “demanding” leader with a strategic inclination toward unpredictability in dealing with both allies and adversaries.

"We must brace ourselves for a shift from Joe Biden’s approach," Tusk added, particularly in critical areas such as Ukraine, Russia, and ongoing conflicts. “Whether this signals a complete turnaround in Washington’s policies on these issues, no one can say for certain.”
