Russian airstrikes overnight have claimed the lives of at least five people and injured 19 others, including five children, in southern Ukraine, according to regional governors on Monday. Four people were killed in the Mykolaiv region, while one person died in the Zaporizhzhia region, where a residential building was destroyed.
The injured in Zaporizhzhia reportedly include five children between the ages of 4 and 17. Both sides continue to deny targeting civilians, though thousands of Ukrainians have been killed since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. Most of eastern Ukraine, including Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia, was under air raid alerts throughout the night, starting around 19:30 GMT on Sunday, as per data from the Ukrainian air force.
