As Lahore faces hazardous levels of air pollution, Pakistan's Punjab province has launched a "smog war room" to tackle the escalating crisis. With a staggering air quality index score reaching 1165, Lahore ranks as the world's most polluted city, surpassing New Delhi. The war room, overseen by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department, brings together multiple agencies to monitor pollution sources, issue daily advisories, and coordinate efforts such as controlling farm waste burning and managing traffic. While Punjab officials partly blame pollution from across the Indian border, the province is also advocating for diplomatic discussions with India to address the regional crisis.
