On Sunday, Ukraine launched its largest drone attack on Moscow since the conflict began in 2022, sending at least 34 drones toward the Russian capital. Russian air defenses intercepted the drones, forcing multiple flights to be diverted from Moscow's main airports and injuring at least one person. This marks the most extensive drone assault on Moscow to date.
Russia’s defense ministry reported that an additional 36 Ukrainian drones were shot down in other western regions, bringing the total to 70. Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports briefly halted flights but soon resumed normal operations. Moscow, with a metro area population of around 21 million, stands as one of Europe’s largest cities.
Simultaneously, Ukraine announced that it had targeted an ammunition facility in Russia’s Bryansk region, where 14 Ukrainian drones were reportedly intercepted. Moscow responded by deploying its “umbrella.
