Trump and Harris Make Final Push for Votes in Historic and Divisive U.S. Election

As the United States faces a historic and highly polarized presidential election, candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are making a last-minute effort to mobilize supporters across the nation. The race remains tight both nationally and in the key battleground states expected to determine the outcome.

Trump, 78, a former president and Republican nominee, has faced unprecedented challenges during his campaign, including surviving two assassination attempts and becoming the first ex-president convicted of a felony. Meanwhile, Harris, 60, who was elevated to the top of the Democratic ticket following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal, is aiming to become the first female and South Asian American president.

Despite the chaos of recent months, the election remains fiercely competitive. Polls suggest both candidates are in a virtual tie, with each side focusing intensely on turnout efforts. Over 77 million Americans have already cast ballots, and the next two days will test which campaign can better drive voter participation.

Harris’s team is employing an extensive ground operation, with hundreds of thousands of door knocks in key states, particularly targeting undecided women and younger voters. Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign is focused on mobilizing lower-propensity voters, deploying resources selectively in areas where his support is strong.

The final hours have also brought high-profile claims from both sides, with Trump continuing to allege election fraud and promising "retribution" should he lose, while Harris has framed the election as a fight for democracy, seeking to inspire Americans across party lines.

Both candidates will focus their Monday campaigning on Pennsylvania, the largest of the battleground states, underscoring its critical role in securing the necessary 270 electoral votes for victory. As Americans prepare to go to the polls, the nation waits to see if a clear winner will emerge or if the outcome will spark further division.
