Barcelona’s Lewandowski and Yamal, Alongside Real Madrid's Vazquez and Rodrygo, Set to Miss International Duties Due to Injuries

Barcelona forwards Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal have been ruled out of international play with Poland and Spain, respectively, after suffering injuries, the club confirmed on Monday. Yamal sustained a right ankle injury during a recent Champions League match, causing him to miss Barcelona’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in LaLiga and Spain’s upcoming Nations League games against Denmark and Switzerland. The 16-year-old is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. Meanwhile, LaLiga's top scorer, Lewandowski, injured his back and will miss around ten days, ruling him out of Poland’s matches with Portugal and Scotland.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced that Girona’s Bryan Gil would step in for Yamal. Real Madrid also reported injuries to Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo, who will miss the coming weeks after leg injuries on Saturday. Brazilian defender Eder Militao, already confirmed to be out with an ACL tear, will undergo surgery and face months of recovery, making him the second Real Madrid player with an ACL injury this season following Dani Carvajal. The club's growing injury list includes key figures like Thibaut Courtois, Aurelien Tchouameni, and David Alaba, with only Courtois expected to be fit in time for their Champions League match against Liverpool in two weeks. Over the weekend, LaLiga saw two additional ACL injuries to Villarreal’s Ilias Akhomach and Leganes’ Enric Franquesa.
