At least 10 Palestinians were reported dead following a series of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to medics. Seven individuals, including children and elderly residents, lost their lives when two houses were targeted in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, while another three died in a separate strike on a home in the Nuseirat refugee camp located in central Gaza. Several people suffered injuries during both attacks and were treated at overwhelmed local medical centers.
Israeli ground forces also entered the northeastern section of the Nuseirat camp earlier today. This incursion follows the deployment of Israeli tanks into Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya on October 5, 2024, as Israel aimed to prevent Hamas militants from regrouping in these densely populated areas.
Palestinian leaders have condemned the renewed offensive and forced evacuations, claiming that the moves amount to "ethnic cleansing" designed to clear out the populations of northern Gaza towns and establish buffer zones. Israeli officials have denied these allegations, asserting that the strikes and military presence are directed solely at Hamas militants responsible for attacks launched from these regions.
The escalating violence has brought Gaza's civilian toll to alarming heights. According to Gaza’s government media office, approximately 1,800 Palestinians have been killed since October 5, with an additional 4,000 suffering injuries. Medical facilities, already severely stretched, are struggling to provide adequate care for the rising number of casualties.
