In a devastating overnight assault, Russian drones targeted Kyiv, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least three civilians, including a 5-year-old child. The attack ignited fires across the Ukrainian capital, causing widespread destruction and panic among residents.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the incident as a "massive enemy drone attack," with emergency services responding to multiple districts affected by fires and structural damage. Eyewitnesses reported hearing numerous explosions as air defense systems engaged the incoming drones.
Tragically, emergency responders discovered the lifeless body of a child while clearing debris in the Holosiivskyi district. Earlier, the body of a man had been recovered from the same location. Additionally, a woman lost her life when drone debris sparked a fire in a high-rise residential building in the Dniprovskyi district, leading to the evacuation of at least 27 residents.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported that eight individuals sustained injuries during the assault. Photographs from the scene depict firefighters battling intense blazes, including those engulfing upper floors of apartment complexes.
This harrowing attack coincides with ongoing efforts by the United States to broker a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, aiming for a partial ceasefire to protect energy infrastructure. Despite these diplomatic endeavors, hostilities persist, with both sides continuing to engage in strikes.
